<p>Obesity and being overweight is reaching widespread proportions these days. Many people need to lose weight. Some people want to lose weight for aesthetic reasons, so that they can look fine in a bikini but other people need to lose weight so that they can maintain their health. </p>
<p>We all carry our excess fat a little differently. One individual may have thunder thighs with a generous butt and a slighter upper body so she is shaped like a pear, while the next individual will carry it all around the middle, in the abdominal area so that she is shaped more like an apple on a stick. The way we hold our fat contributes significantly to our good health. </p>
<p>The pear-shaped women, who carry all of their surplus weight in their butt and thighs, are at a health advantage over the apple shaped women. While they may have more problem finding &#8220;jeans that fit&#8221; and they may struggle with body image just as much as the apple-shaped woman, they do not have the same wellbeing issues to contend with. The fat they hold on their butts and thighs is not automatically unfavorable to their wellbeing. </p>
<p>On the other hand the fat that accumulates around the mid section puts the person at risk for such things as heart disease, diabetes and other health risks. The predicament is that the fat in the middle collects around the internal organs. This prevents their organs and their bodies from optimal role. Pear-shaped individuals do not have this same problem because none of the inside organs are found in the butt and thighs. </p>
<p>In order to find out is you are an apple or a pear shape you need to work out your waist-hip ratio. Divide your waist measurement in inches by your hip measurement in inches. If the result is 0.8 or less you are shaped like a pear and if it is more than 0.8 then you are an apple shape. For instance, you can take a 28-inch waist and divide it by a 38-inch hip and the result is 0.73 or a pear shape while that same hip of 38 inch with a 32-inch waist computes out to a 0.84 or an apple shape. </p>
<p>While a pear may bemoan her big butt and thunder thighs it is typically more of a body image predicament, while the apple can be facing some very serious health risks. Exercise and a wise diet are critical if you are apple shaped and losing even as little as 2 inches off your waist can help your health risks. If you are an apple, intensify your cardio and concentrate on consuming a diet rich in fiber by consuming more fruits, vegetables, beans and legumes, and lean protien sources such as fish and skinless chicken. </p>
<p>One advantage that an apple-shaped woman has is that the fat that accumulates in the abdominal region tends to come off much quicker than the fat that accumulates in the butt and thighs. The fat in the butt and thighs is much more tenacious and it will necessitate much more meticulousness with dieting and exercise to at long last come off. </p>
<p>You cannot manage the type of body that you have and how you hold surplus fat but you can do whatever is possible to prevent the excess fat in the first place or lose it if you already have it.</p>

<p>These days obesity and being overweight has reached wide-ranging proportions. It is no surprise that so many people want to lose weight. There are many reasons to lose weight from the visual reasons, like looking good to charm a companion or to fit in those wonderful pants to what is probably the most critical reason and that is for good health. </p>
<p>Different bodies hoard fat in a different way. A person who stores all of the excess fat in their thighs and butt has distinct problems than a person who stores all of their extra fat in the center or the abdominal area. When you carry your fat in your thighs and butt you are shaped like a pear and when you carry your excess fat in your abdominal region you are shaped like an apple. The way that you carry your fat has a great effect on your health. </p>
<p>If you are shaped like a pear you have a important health benefit over the individuals who are shaped like an apple. You may have more tribulations in getting clothes that fit and you may have body image issues but your health is not really too much as risk. Contrary to that the people who hold their fat in their bellies are at danger for major health problems.</p>
<p>The fat that accumulates around the belly section puts the person at hazard for things like heart disease and cardiovascular problems, diabetes and other health risks. The problem is that the fat in the belly section collects around the internal organs. This prevents the organs from performing optimally. If you are pear-shaped you escape this predicament because there are no internal organs in your butt and thighs.</p>
<p>To find out is you are an apple-shape or a pear-shape you will need to figure the ratio of your waist to hips. Divide your waist measurement in inches by your hip measurement in inches. If the resultant ratio is 0.8 or more you are shaped like an apple, but if it is more than 0.8 or less then you are shaped like a pear. An example would be a 28-inch waist divided by a 38-inch hip gives a ratio of 0.73 or a pear-shape while that same hip measurement combined with a 32-inch waist is a 0.84 or an apple shape. </p>
<p>A pear may have body image issues and she may struggle with her body type but she is not really facing significant health risks, which is not the case for an apple-shaped individual. If you are apple-shaped it is much more crucial that you drop the weight. Try increasing your cardio exercises and focus on consuming a fiber-rich diet with more fruits, vegetables, beans and legumes and lean protein sources such as fish and skinless chicken. </p>
<p>When it comes to weight loss an apple shaped individual does have an benefit because weight that accumulates in the abdominal area comes off faster than the fat that accumulates in the butt and thighs. Butt and thigh fat is quite stubborn and it will take much more sweat to get it to finally come off. </p>
<p>We cannot influence our body type and how we hold our excess fat but we can do whatsoever is possible to lose weight and increase health.</p>
