<p>Myth #1- All calories are equal- This kind of myth defies human logic. Think about the statement, if all calories were the same then you could eat your 1500- 2000 calories a day from a fast food place and never gain weight, right? <p>Myth #2- Low Carbohydrate high protein diets are not safe- There have been many studies conducted over several years that prove this myth is incorrect. There are certain things a body must have essential fatty acids, amino acids, vitamins and minerals, however nowhere will you find that the body needs carbohydrates (sugar) to survive. Just look at some aboriginal tribes who have existed for many years on animal products alone and none of them are suffering from diabetes, heart trouble or high blood pressure!</p>
<p>Myth #3- Juices are good for you- There are a very few people that are aware that juices are not as healthy as you have been lead to believe, making this the biggest myth out there. Five oranges are required for a glass of OJ. But you most probably believe that juices are good for your health even though the sugar content of five oranges cannot be less than the sugar content in most sodas. Most of the vitamins are lost while the juice is being extracted, so the fact that they are good for you nutritionally even though they are high in sugar and calories is not true either. </p>
<p>Myth #4- Moderate Drinking does you some good- This myth has been going around for quite some time now. The results of the studies that have shown that drinking alcohol is good for you were incorrect. The purpose of the study was to prove that non-drinkers did not live as long as people who drank moderately.</p>
<p>The group of non drinkers they put together comprised of past alcoholics and people that are not well enough to drink, so the results of the study went askew. How could the life expectancy of a former abusive drinker or a person not fit enough to be drinking in the first place be longer? The red wine theory is also quite deceiving since you need not drink wine to receive the benefits to your health that grapes has to offer. Alcohol also does not do you any good in the weight loss department, because it stimulates fat storage and muscle loss. It would serve you well to keep your distance from it, if you are looking to get in shape.</p>
