    JIT–Masticating …
JIT–Masticating juicers, whether auger or twin gear, are the only productive way to juice the dark leafy greens we are supposed to use. I have several centrifugals and love them for some things, but not leafy greens. Recommendations? Look at the excellent demo on here for the Omega 8005, look at the Champion, look at the Samson, etc. Not just more Brevilles and centrifugals.

I have the La lanne juicer as well. I noticed that you were sort of tilting the juicer up at the nozzle with the tupperware bottle.

I went down to my local Lowe’s and bought a patio paver to place under the juicer. ( I washed it with soap and bleach to clean it off ) It elevated the juicer about an inch an a half, which allowed me to use other containers with it. You can use two or more if you are needing to juice into a large capacity container.

    John,
With all your experience and such a strong comment, I’m surprised you didn’t actually make a recommendation as to which juicer you suggest for leafy greens. The Jack La Lanne has served me well, even with leafy greens. I support juicing in general, but always believe people should do their homework to find the best materials for them! Cheers, to your health!

    Because this is a …
Because this is a centrifugal juicer, and not a good one at that, leafy greens will not produce much juice. Wrong juicer for greens, and many would say wrong juicer, period. Speaking as daily juicer with 25 years’ experience.

    I buy organic …
I buy organic produce and spend roughly $25-30/week. I make at least 6, 8 oz juices and I usually buy carrots, beets, radish, spinach, cabbage (green) or brussel sprouts, celery, small amount of ginger, lemons (1/2 per juice), two bunches of green leaves (kale, collards, etc), and ~ 2 green apples (1/2 per juice).

I look for sale items and if something is out of season and too high, then I substitute. Sometimes you can find good deals at farmer’s markets.

    Glad the video was useful!

This was good. I wonder, though, how much it costs to juice the produce, as it looked like you put tons into the juicer, and sometimes produce prices runhigh.
