Getting Rid of Cellulite

Cellulite is defined as a series of ripples of under the skin fat cells.

We find cellulite most commonly in places like the thighs and butt. Women in particular tend to have cellulite in these places. Additionally, we find a certain “orange peel” characteristic to it.

It is unclear as to why cellulite seems to affect women much more than men. It’s possible that there is a difference between the two genders in terms of skin composition or that the actual cell structure is different.

It is also unclear why cellulite exists in the first place. We still do not know what causes cellulite or why it comes to be. There are, however, many theories to the existence of cellulite including thinking that it is caused by problems in the fat cells or hormone inbalances.

One interesting thing to note is that being fat in itself does not mean that you will get cellulite. While many overweight people may get cellulite, there are many overweight people who do not have cellulite and many thin people who do get cellulite. Having large amounts of fat does not mean you will automatically get cellulite.

Although, it is known that excess fat does cause cellulite. This could be because enlarged fat cells put more pressure on the tissue around it and the connective tissue which ultimately affects the skin in negative ways.

Possible solutions to cellulite involving dieting and otherwise attempting to reduce the fat cells that are there.

Another possibility is trying to increase collagen production which will help your skin overall and improve the appearance.
